Cyber-bullying has become more and more prevalent in this day and age with all the access to technology kids and teenagers have. However, there are consequences to cyber-bullying and there are ways to prevent it no matter where you stand.

- About half of young people have experienced some form of cyber bullying, and 10 to 20 percent experience it regularly
- Girls are at least as likely as boys to be cyber bullies or their victims
- Boys are more likely to be threatened by cyber bullies than girls
- 95% of social media-using teens who have witnessed cruel behavior on social networking sites say they have seen others ignoring the mean behavior; 55% witness this frequently.
- 66% of teens who have witnessed online cruelty have also witnessed others joining; 21% say they have also joined in the harassment.
- Only 7% of U.S. parents are worried about cyber bullying, even though 33% of teenagers have been victims of cyber bullying.
- One in ten parents online (12%) around the world say their child has experienced cyber bullying. One in four (24%) of those parents say they know a child in their community who has experienced cyber bullying and of those, 60% say the children experienced the harassing behavior on social networking sites like Facebook.
- Mean or hurtful comments (13.7%) and rumors spread (12.9%) online are the most common types of cyber bullying.
- Over half of those who received bullying messages were fairly or very upset.
